Stevens Point
Work Shop
We got to draw the human figure using hand pastels and a female model. The instructors showed us how to capture the basic shape and proportions of the body using eye measurement. The female model was standing with her back turned towards me. Other people got a different view depending on where they were standing in the room. In the second part of the workshop, we learned to draw using highlights. We were essentially working opposite of what we were doing in the beginning. We had to cover our paper entirely with hand pastel. The model went from standing to sitting in a chair. The instructor told us to choose a part of her and the chair we wanted to draw. I chose to do her shoulders and arms for they seemed the easiest. However, drawing through highlighting was much more difficult than I thought it would be. I often had to go back with the hand pastel and start over. The eraser had to be used a certain way in order to get clean, even strokes.

MIAD Campus Tour and Gallery
I've visited the MIAD campus many times and each time there's something new to explore. I really enjoyed seeing the paintings and drawings of the human figure and self portraits.
